You might not know what day it is but you will have bagged a trig point.About this EventPeak Outdoor Coaching offer women-only hikes in and around the Peak District. On this walk, we'll explore the beautiful twisting Manifold valley taking in Ecton and Wetton hill - bagging us two Ethel's and a trig point. The Manifold Valley is home to dramatic limestone crags and caves, and industrial history. As always, we'll also be keeping our eye out for the wonderful nature and wildlife that can be found in the winter months.Shake off the festive cabin fever and breathe in some crisp winter air with us on this Betwixtmas hike!Distance: 7 miles / 11kmElevation: 1,558ft / 475mLevel of difficulty: Moderate - Mostly easy footpaths with some uneven, potentially muddy ground. Some uphill sections and stiles to climb. A good level of fitness required to tackle the inclines and distance.Time: 5 hoursTransport:We'll be meeting at the lay-by parking closest to Wetton Mill (Google Maps) at 9.15 am. This is free but limited parking so please arrive with plenty of time to grab a space. There is further parking a 10 minute walk away (Google Maps).Sadly, this route isn’t well served by public transport. There are a couple of steep inclines on this walk, though we will climb them at a steady pace. There are also some stiles to climb on this walk.Toilets:There are public toilets near to the car park but none along the way on the walk so we may have to embrace the good old ‘wild wees’ whilst we’re out!Safety:The whole point of the walk is to be an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone so we will keep to a steady pace to suit the group. It's about taking in the views, learning about the history and geology of the area and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety and with all outdoor activities, there can be risks involved. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on this walk, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns. Please inform me of any medical conditions prior to the walk.I am a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader and I am level 3 Outdoor First Aid trained so I will be on hand in case of an emergency.Dogs:Dogs are more than welcome to come along, however, there may be livestock around and potentially other dogs, so they will need to stay on a lead for parts of it.Refund Policy:Refunds will only be given if the event is cancelled. If you can no longer attend you are more than welcome to sell your ticket to someone else but please let me know if you do so.And FINALLY:This walk will be going ahead whatever the weather, unless I deem the conditions dangerous so be ready to embrace the good old British weather!
